In True Faith we can appreciate Manchester's incredible music-scene and the legacy of arguably our city's biggest musical icons, in ToGather we celebrate the diversity and embrace our multicultural society and in Manchester Street Poem we are immersed into the world of Manchester's homelessness crisis, something we each see and often ignore every day.
We flew from Manchester Airport on Friday morning, returning back Sunday night so... More of an extended weekend really. We were primarily there to see Arcade Fire on their Everything Now tour at Tanzbrunnen, but you can read more about that in a separate post. For now here's everything we got up to in the beautiful German city of Cologne.
We stayed in a lovely hotel called the Hopper St Josef. It was about a half hour walk from the main train station, but we relished how peaceful and quiet it was where we were. It was 5 minutes from the harbour and we were never more than a 40 minute walk from anything we wanted to see either.
Despite the fact that the average 16-25 year old woman spends more than five hours a week taking selfies, the question of whether this is an empowering act of self love or simply narcissism remains complex and conflicting. The project allowed women, and the occasional man, to weigh in on the debate in a totally judgement-free space. The daily provocations ranged from ‘something you’re insecure about’ to ‘be your own art!’ Each project was personal, unique and brought something new to the table.
