Working under the premise that everyone is an artist, this collaborative event aims to create a space for people to be creative, safe, nostalgic and nurtured with friends old and new. Involving over 30 local interdisciplinary female artists across it’s production, audiences are invited to join the gang for an unforgettable evening of sisterhood, skill sharing, silliness and surprises. Expect big wows, business woman specials, a fun and frisky use of colour, and a totally tremendous time!
2017 shall be forever known to me as the year I committed to my writing again, and the year of adventure. I summited several mountains, dived in caves hundreds of metres underground, visited no less than 11 countries, started reading books again, went to 12 gigs, protested and campaigned for what I believe in, gained two new jobs doing what I love, saw 12 amazing pieces of theatre, went to 3 weddings, spent more time in art galleries than ever before, and most importantly, remembered that I am a writer.
Better still, the flavour combinations are on parr with any fine dining eatery I've eaten in. A lot of talent has gone into designing the seasonal, locally sourced and ever-changing menu; with amuse bouche to welcome diners into the art of chef's art of cooking, and pre-desserts to cleanse the pallet and make way for new exciting flavours.
Traditionally in a carrot cake recipe you would add raisins, but I'm not a huge fan of them so swap them for dates, this gives the whole cake a sweeter, fudgier taste and it keeps it really moist. I topped mine with extra walnuts and raspberries which help cut through any sticky sweetness left by the dates and syrup with that fruity sharpness and the earthy walnuts.
This gorgeous afternoon from teahive cost us £18.95 each and although it might be pricey to do every weekend, as we were all about treating ourselves it was so worth it. A huge thank you to Teahive for being so welcoming and their dietary knowledge being all-encompassing, it makes such a difference to someone who rarely gets to eat cake unless I make it myself! I even got to take some leftover brownie home in a cute little cakebox!
