Review by poet and lecturer James Sheard:
"Jo Flynn's work is both careful and sudden, fully written and bulletin-like, controlled and punchy. The poems seem to be urgent messages from an emotional and psychological space which we recognise and are/have been touched by ourselves. The poems are single poems which stand alone, and work - each one earning its moment of impact- but they also talk and thread themselves together into this story and that story. Throughout the reading of them there are moments when the heart stops, or beats louder, and moments when the quietness is interrupted by anger and surprised revelation."
